The mezzanine floor of the central Sendlinger Tor underground station was opened at the end of December 2023. After almost seven years, the conversion of the transport hub is due to be completed by summer 2024. Ingo Maurer developed the lighting and colour concept for the modernisation and is responsible for the lighting design. Together with the architects Raupach + Bohn, the design for the modernisation was submitted to Stadtwerke München and won.
